Jon was born and raised in the Midwest where he began working in the trades at young age. As a teenager Jon spent his summers working in the family drywall business, and a family friend’s roofing and siding company. Once he graduated, he worked at a truss factory for a while. From there he went on to work on the sales side of the construction industry.  Starting out on the ground floor he worked his way up to selling doors and windows for Menard’s a large Midwest Home Improvement Company.  Eventually taking on the role of assistant store manager which he held for 10 years.

After a summer vacation in Eugene, Oregon visiting family members. He and his wife decided to move to Eugene with their three kids for the quality of life.

His journey at Oregon Ceilings & Acoustics began almost 10 years ago as a utility worker. On his own time, he started teaching himself estimating.  Before long he was able to substantially add to the sales and estimating staff.   Because of his value add to the company he was offered the opportunity to buy into the company in 2015.  As of 2017 he became the majority owner of Oregon Ceiling & Acoustics LLC.   It’s been a challenge but, due to hiring practices and long-term relationships Oregon Ceilings & Acoustics has continued to grow and sustain its marketplace.

Jodi brings a unique perspective to the table, both as a woman in a male-dominated industry and as the person who is most often the youngest face in the room. She is comfortable with technology and has led her team through the paper to digital transition. Jodi has been the office manager for Bineham Construction since 2019 and, as the daughter of a concrete mason, has been in the industry since birth. Before starting with Bineham Construction, Jodi worked as an admin in the financial planning industry. She brings with her a long history of providing unwavering support to her teammates and a sharp attention to detail.

Jodi is a dog mom, registered Notary Public, LEED Green Associate, and a member of the National Association of Women in Construction. Billy Phillips
Essex General Construction
Phone: (541) 275-8890
Email: billy.phillips@essexgc.com

Billy Phillips is the Director of Business Development for Essex General Construction.

He is a 5th generation Oregonian. His family came from Ireland in the late 1800’s and settled on property outside of Harrisburg. It was a great experience for Billy growing up in a farming community. He started working on local farms at age 12. After high school he went to Oregon State and the University of Idaho, graduating with a BS in Forest Engineering / Timber Harvesting.

Billy began his construction career as a Project Engineer for a large regional General Contractor. He had the opportunity to grow in that firm, taking on the roles of Project Manager, Business Development Manager, Development Owner’s Rep and eventually became a senior leader in the firm. Billy also brings experience working for a specialty contracting firm, where he spent five years helping them grow their commercial construction business, serving in the roles of Vice President of Operations and President.

He has learned a lot over the years from these experiences and is happy that he’s gotten back to his roots in general construction and development at Essex General Construction. He loves the full cycle of the development and building process from building the relationships early in the process before a shovel hits the ground to the final completion of a project when the last piece of furniture is moved in.

In addition to his role at Essex, Billy has served on the board for the Emerald Valley Boys & Girls Club and is currently the President of the Monroe JR Dragons Sports Board. Billy brings over 18 years of commercial construction experience in both the General Contracting and Subcontracting realms. He hopes this well-rounded knowledge base and perspective will benefit the members of the Eugene Builders Exchange.
